Immortal

Biography

Immortal was formed as a death metal band in early 1989 in Bergen, Norway, then under the name of Amputation. The first two demos were recorded under the name Amputation but in 1990 or 1991 they changed their name into Immortal. The third demo "Unholy Forces Of Evil" led to a record deal and was also released as a 7" by the French Listenable Records. With each new album the band's popularity has grown and they have become one of the leading bands on the world's black/death metal scene. Right before the start of the tour in 1997 Demonaz injured his hand and is not able to play live anymore but he is still writing new material for the band. In the year 2000 they switched record company from the French Osmose to German Nuclear Blast.
