Born on April 3, 1978 in Hamburg, Germany, Thomas Mario Haas began to play tennis with his father, Peter, at age four ; Peter was once an Austrian champion in judo..He moved to USA (Bradenton, Florida) at age eleven to attend Nick Bolletieri Academy. He soon compiled oustanding junior results, ending as No.11 in 1995.
He admires countrymen Boris Becker for his achievements, but he had extraordinary results of his own...In 2001, he became one of the four players to remain undefeated in their last three finals and winning at least one in the current year. In 2002, he reached top 5 in the ATP Champions Race position, and went as far as the finals in Rome TMS, losing to veteran Andre Agassi...
