Charlie Sheen was born in New York in 1965 and passed all its childhood to California. Wire of the one of the most remarkable actors of Hollywood, Martin Sheen, Charlie makes his beginnings at 9 years in the telefilm "The Execution of Private Slovik". But it is when it accompanies his father in the Philippines, on the turning of APOCALYPSE NOW of Francis Coppola, that it makes the decision definitively to become him also actor. It is besides in this film that it makes its first appearance on the large screen. It is still with the college when it occurs with the theatre, in parts like "Antigone" and "Alice with the Country of the Wonders", and even in a musical, "The Boy Friend". It also plays in Coolness of Penelope Spheeris. Its interpretation of the young soldier who runs up against his superior during the war of Vietnam in PLATOON of Oliver Stone, remains in doubt one of its most outstanding roles to date. The film gained the Oscar of best film in 1986. Oliver Stone will make thereafter call second once to Charlie Sheen, for WALL STREET. Charlie Sheen also counts with its credit LUCAS of David Seltzer, the INSANE DAY OF FERRIS BUELLER of John Hughes, FATAL GEARS and MEN AT WORK of Emilio Estevez, the CHANGING of and with Clint Eastwood, GIVES RHYTHM where it plays sides of his father, and under its direction.
