| Biography |
With a handful of diverse film and television roles, Tom Everett Scott has developed a reputation as one of the industry's most versatile young actors.
A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Scott began his acting career with a guest appearance on Law & Order. He then won a recurring role on ABC's hit sitcom Grace Under Fire.
Scott first came to Hollywood's attention as Guy "Shades" Patterson, the soulful drummer in That Thing You Do!, which marked Tom Hanks' feature directorial debut. He also starred in An American Werewolf in Paris.
Scott was most recently seen starring in the television drama series The $treet and was part of the ensemble for the movie The Boiler Room. Prior to that, he had a wide variety of different roles, including Dead Man on Campus, One True Thing, The Love Letter, Inherit the Wind, Top of the Food Chain, and River Red, which received rave reviews at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival — and for which Scott served as both star and producer.
Inspired by such repertory theater companies as The Wooster Group and Steppenwolf, Scott and several friends teamed up to launch aTheaterCo, a New York-based theater group focusing on original works. He recently starred in the off-Broadway production, The Country Club.
