Tim Allen
| Biography |
Tim Allen, was born Timothy Allen Dick in Denver Colorado, U.S.A. on June 13th, 1953. He and his family moved to Birmingham, Michigan, U.S.A. (a suburb of Detroit). Naturally, his favorite high school subject was shop, and acceled at being the class clown.
He also attended Western Michigan University and graduated with a degree in Television Production in 1975. He was arrested for dealing drugs in 1978, and spent two years in jail. When he was released, Tim had a new outlook on life, by starting his comedy career at the Comedy Castle in Detroit on a dare from a friend.
He went on to be featured in several cable specials, including, “Tim Allen: Men Are Pigs”, “Just For Laughs”, “Comedy Club All Stars II”, “Tim Allen Rewires America”, “Comedy Club All Stars VII”, and more recently, “Howard Stern”, “Good Morning America”, “The Late Show”, “The Tonight Show”, and “Nick News”.
He then went on to star in his own T.V. series with the A.B.C., called, “Home Improvement”, which first aired in September 1991. On the show, he stars with Patricia Richardson (Jill), Earl Hindman (Wilson), Debbie Dunning (Heidi), Richard Karn (Al), Zachary Ty Brian (Brad), Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Randy), and Tarran Noah Smith (Mark). He also was the center of attention a some recent films as well, “The Santa Clause”, he played the voice of Buzz Lightyear in, “Toy Story”, and “Jungle 2 Jungle”.
Not only on T.V. is he recognized, but off the screen as well. He has recently developed his own line of designer tools. The fist tool made was an ergonomically designed hammer. He unveiled the first tools in his signature line of power tools on August 13th, 1996 (manufactured by Ryobi).
And to add to all of this, Tim has his own racing team!, Tim Allen/Saleen RRRRacing.
Currently, he lives with his wife and daughter in their two homes, one in Los Angeles, and the other in Detroit.
Recently, Tim was arrested in Detroit for going 70 mp/h in a 40 mp/h zone, and was sentenced to go into rehab, and he was permitted to shoot the rest of the season. The day after he finished shooting his last episode for the 1997-1998 season, he checked into one (unknown). For fans of "Home Improvement", he has now completed the final episode for ever. It was produced on Saturday the 17th of April, 1999 and will air on the Tuesday, the 25th of May 1999 on ABC It was a very emotional episode for Tim and the rest of the cast although the show will never really end. The show promises to be excellent and will go out with a bang, and plus, the face of Earl Hindman (Wilson Wilson Wilson) was almost fully visible.
