Takuya Kimura (木村 拓哉 Kimura Takuya, nicknamed Kimutaku) (born November 13, 1972 in Chiba) is a Japanese actor and a member of the pop group SMAP.
He starred in many TV dramas such as Love Generation , Long Vacation, Gift, Beautiful Life, HERO, Good Luck!! and Pride. These drama were well accepted by audiences and got high rating viewership, establishing him as the king of Japanese TV drama. He is also appearing in the upcoming Chinese movie 2046.
Kimura is one of the most popular artists in Japan of all time. He has in the past won the "Best Jeanist" award, which is given annually to one male and one female celebrity who looks good in jeans. He also voted "Most favourite Man" by anan magazine for 11 years running (1994-2004). He has a sizable following in nearby Asian countries, including South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. There are also fans in Germany, France, United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia, NZ, Italy, US, Canada, and other countries.
Many idols outside Japan who are at their peaks are even compared to Kimura. Won Bin and Jerry Yan have often been called the "Takuya Kimura" of their countries.
