‑RENE LAVAN is a true crossover actor in every sense of the word, from film to TV, drama to comedy. Rene starred as the charming future son-in-law of Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis in Christmas With the
Kranks and as the disapproving, revolutionary brother (Carlos Suarez) to Diego Luna in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. Rene also starred or co-starred in several Spanish films, including El Nominado, an independent film shot in Chile, and he played the lead character in Leon Ichaso’s political love story Bitter Sugar. He is well known and recognized for his leading roles in the immensely popular Spanish telenovelas "Morelia," "Maria Belen" and "Enamorada." He was a guest star on "CSI Miami" and "Las Vegas" and has been a regular cast member in Latinologues since 2002, performing to sold-out audience across the nation. Rene has graced the pages of several publications, including Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, Details, Vanidades, Cosmopolitan and Cristina and was named one of People en Español’s "25 Most Beautiful People." Rene was born in Cuba, raised in Miami and now lives in Los Angeles where he is working on several Latin-themed projects for his newly formed production company.
‑SHIRLEY A. RUMIERK. As a Latina and a native New Yorker (Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan), Shirley is thrilled and honored to be part of the Broadway debut of Latinologues. She obtained a BA in Hispanic Studies
(Department of Romance Languages and Literatures) from Harvard University, is host of the New York infotainment show "Cool in Your Code" (NYC-TV) and has done several Spanish and English national commercials. She is also a board member, a volunteer and an alum of the 52nd Street Project, an inner-city children’s theatre program. Recent credits include the New York Hip-Hop Theater Festival and performances with the SalSoul Comedy Troupe.
