Hank Azaria
| Biography |
There are few obvious connections between Moe the bartender and Catherine Zeta Jones' smouldering Latin lover in American Sweethearts, except that brilliant mimic Hank Azaria portrays them both. As well as providing Moe's voice, Azaria is also responsible for the tones of Apu the Kwik-E-Mart owner and Police Chief Wiggum.
The tall, attractive, dark-haired actor has starred in numerous sitcoms - most notably NBC's Mad About You which teamed him with his real-life wife at the time, Oscar-winning actress Helen Hunt. On the big screen, his acclaimed portrayal of a ruthless TV executive in Robert Redford's Quiz Show led to his performance as an over-the-top Guatemalan houseboy in The Birdcage, where he outshone Robin Williams and Gene Hackman.
He starred alongside Jack Lemmon in the TV movie Tuesdays With Morrie, and both men won Emmys for their portrayal of a relationship between two men across the generations. In August, he won another Emmy, this time for his voice-over portrayal of Moe. He was honoured for the The Moe Baby Blues episode in which Moe gets broody over baby Maggie. |
