CHEECH MARIN (Esteban) is best known as one half of the hilariously irreverent, satirical, counterculture, no-holds-barred duo of 'Cheech and Chong,' a comic partnership which spanned 15 years of performing, recording, and making films such as "Up In Smoke" (the highest grossing comedy of 1978). As a solo artist, Mr. Marin wrote, directed, and starred in Universal's hit comedy, "Born In East LA" Other film credits include "Spy Kids" with Antonio Banderas; "Picking Up the Pieces" with Woody Allen; "Tin Cup" with Kevin Costner; "Paulie" with Tony Shalhoub; "The Great White Hype" with Samuel Jackson, Jeff Goldblum, and Damon Wayans; "From Dusk 'till Dawn with George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino; "Desperado" with Antonio Banderas; "Cisco Kid," "Rude Awakening," "Fatal Beauty," and "Shrimp on the Barbie." An actor, director, writer, musician, art collector, and humanitarian, he was recipient of the 1999 National Council of LaRaza/Kraft Foods ALMA Community Service Award for his work on behalf of the Latino Community. Mr. Marin is also well known to youngsters for his work in children's music and animation, which includes the voice of 'Banzai," one of the dastardly hyenas in "The Lion King" and the streetwise Chihuahua in Disney's "Oliver and Company." Mr. Marin will soon follow his phenomenally successful bilingual children's album, My Name Is Cheech, The School Bus Driver with a second album, My Name Is Cheech, The School Bus Driver "Coast To Coast". Currently, he is costarring with Don Johnson in the CBS Series "Nash Bridges" now in its sixth season. This is his first play.
