| Biography |
Puerto Rican pop star Chayanne made his singing debut at the age of ten, while joining a vocal group called Los Chicos in the early '80s. After signing up to Sony Music, his first solo record was released in 1988. His songs "Tu Pirata Soy Yo" and "Este Ritmo Se Baila Asi" climbed the most important Latin charts. In 1989 a second self-titled album came with two important hits, "Fiesta En America" and "Peligro De Amor." That same year, the singer was nominated to a Grammy award for Best Latin Pop Performance. Chayanne's acting career started with a Mexican soap opera called Pobre Juventud, followed by Puerto Rican Tormento and Sombras del Pasado, getting a main role in the 1998's movie Dance With Me, working along with Vanessa Williams. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide |
