Dattilo debuted as bad boy/rich kid Lucas Roberts in a controversial love-making scene and subsequently went on a non-stop, roller-coaster ride with storylines ranging from alcoholism to child custody. The young actor's performance was recognized in 1999 with a Soap Opera Award nomination as Outstanding Supporting Actor. Cosmopolitan recognized Dattilo as one of The 100 Most Eligible Bachelors. Dattilo will soon be seen in the independent feature Fits and Starts. Prior to landing the series regular role on Days of Our Lives, Dattilo was already well on his way to veteran actor status as he began his entertainment career when he was just 10-years-old. He made his television debut on Not Necessarily the News as part of the ensemble cast spoofing everything from
s Elliot to boxing promoter Don King. Other television credits include California Dreams with Baywatch's Kelly Packard, Doogie Howser, Charles in Charge and In the Heat of the Night. Dattilo appeared in the films Grizzly Adams and Arcade. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 29th, Dattilo moved to Florida with his divorced mom Peggy before they ultimately settled-down in the Los Angeles area. He has an older brother and sister as well as three half, younger sisters from his father's subsequent marriages. "I'm thankful to mom for giving me my start in the business. It wasn't easy for her as single-mother raising three kids on her own. But because of her support, I am able to raise my family doing what I love," says Dattilo. Away from television studios, Dattilo has another passion - music. Growing-up in Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles, Dattilo has always been grounded by and very connected to rap, rhythm&blues and hip-hop. Throughout his life, his passion for music has only intensified - finally culminating in the upcoming release of his first CD Still Gettin' Paid. The CD showcases Dattilo's hip-hop influences as well as his original lyrics. Still Gettin' Paid will be available this summer at www.bryandattilo.com. "Creating music has been a dream of mine since I was a twelve-year-old playing air-bands with my buddies. The lyrics reflect some of my experiences and tie into my poetry writing. It surprises people to find out that I like rap music -- let alone that I am creating it. But knowing who I am and what I like helps me break-down their preconceived ideas." Other passions include restoring cars [usually Fords], weight training, just about every sport imaginable, quality time with his son, playing with his two dogs and of course writing poetry. More recently, Dattilo has been developing his stand-up comedy routine that includes an impersonation of his favorite comedian Chris Rock as well as impersonations of his former Days of Our Lives co-stars. The actor embraced a new chapter of his life on December 16th, 1999 with the birth of his son Gabriel. "I drive a lot slower now that I have a kid, " Dattilo
