Attended Columbia University on a football scholarship. Graduated in 1960 with a major in history.
Attended Yale University.
Member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Served in the United States Marine Corps.
Worked with Martha Stewart at Merrill Lynch, where they were both stockbrokers.
Married to Judith Scheff from 1959-1974, with whom he had three daughters -- Elizabeth, Kathleen, and Deirdre.
Married Jennifer Arnott in 1988. They adopted two children: Sarah (b. 1995) and Cormac (b. 1993).
Has four granddaughters and two grandsons.
