Brandon Routh was born on October 9, 1979 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Katie and Ron Routh. He has one sister named Sara Suzane Routh who is a singer/songwriter, as well as a D.J on an Iowa radio station.

His family moved to nearby Norwalk, Iowa when he was young, and he grew up there. (Note: this is very close to Woolstock, where George Reeves, the original TV Superman grew up. he graduated from Norwalk H.S. in 1997. He always had an interest in acting and became involved with the Norwalk Theater of Performing Arts, starring in some of their productions. He also attended the University of Iowa as an English major (but dropped out before graduating).

His first professional gig came in 1999 when he appeared in one episode of the TV show Odd Man Out. He also had small parts in MTV's Undressed and an appearance on one episode of the Gilmore Girls.

His first recurring role came as Seth Anderson on the TV soap opera One Life to Live in 2001.

Over the next three years, he also made appearances on other TV shows, such as Will and Grace. He also appeared in Christina Aguilera's music video What a Girl Wants.

Then, his big break came in November of 2004, when he was given the role of Clark Kent for the next Superman movie entitled Superman Returns, due to be released in 2006.

Interesting facts: He wore a Superman costume for Halloween 2003. Just like the other Supermen that came before him, he is a relative unknown.

Playing soccer, basketball, swimming, biking and reading. He Plays the trumpet and piano.
