Alex Kingston

Alex Kingston was born in Surrey, England. She first became interested in acting after a family trip to Germany (where her mother was born) wher she saw her uncle performing on stage.
Her first role was as the angel, Gabriel, in a school play. She went to an all-girls grammer school in Epsom and there her English teacher inspired her to pursue an acting career. Her first TV role was playing a bully on the British series Grange Hill.
After she finished her schooling, she moved to London, where Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. after which she was accepted by the Royal Shakespeare Company. There she met her first husband fellow actor Ralph Fiennes, whom she would marry in 1993 and divorce four years later. She performed in several small plays before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company.
She performed in many classical performances on stage, while taking more modern roles on Tv and film. In 1994, she became a household name when she took the role of Dr. Elizabeth Corday in the series ER. She met her current husband Ralph Fiennes on a blind date and they were married in 1998. Their only child, Salome Violetta, was born in March 2001. |
