Michelle Branch's Beginnings
Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch was a little too eager to start her rock 'n roll life. She was born seven weeks early and weighed only 3 lbs, 11 ounces. Michelle's first recorded work happened at the age of three when she covered some Beatles tunes on her parents karaoke machine and sent the tape to her grandparents. Michelle went on to start singing lessons at age eight. When she was 11 her 'rents moved to Sedona, Arizona where Michelle Branch continued with her singing lessons.
Michelle Branch Rocks the Guitar
On her 14th birthday, Michelle Branch was given a guitar. Michelle Branch then began to write her own songs and play live gigs around Sedona. By the time Michelle Branch was 18, she had recorded an independant album, (meaning she had no record label) and she had opened for Hanson. It was during her opening spots for Hanson that Michelle Branch caught the attention of Maverick Records reps. Madonna's record label signed Michelle Branch, and she recorded her first major album - Spirit Room.
Michelle Branch's Billboard Success
Spirit Room was a huge success and had two hit tunes, Everywhere and All You Wanted. Michelle Branch went on to tour with The Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow and The Calling. Her second album, Hotel Paper, dropped in 2003 and Michelle Branch had another instant hit with the song, |
