After dropping out of university where she studied Dutch, Ten Damme goes to Amsterdam to study at the art academy in Amsterdam where she specializes in playing the piano.

Ten Damme's career as an actress is on the up and while still studying at the art academy she gets her first part in a Dutch film called 'Tranen van Maria Machita' ('Tears of Maria Machita').
1992 - 1994
From 1992 to 1994 Ten Damme acts in several Dutch TV-series and films. She also sings on the soundtrack of a number of Dutch films.Ten Damme gets a record deal with Mercury and records her first album Kill Your Darlings. Although the album gets good reviews and is even nominated for an Edison, sales are lacking behind. For a while she concentrates on her acting career.Ten Damme joins recently reformed new wave band Soviet Sex. They release the album Hotel Winston. She also sings with on a track of the band Jeunes Turcs, which becomes a hit in Turkey. Ten Damme records some material for the original soundtrack album of Caspar, The Friendly Ghost.Ten Damme plays the part of Paula in de film No Trains, No Planes from Jos Stelling. She also has a regular column in newspaper

She records a new album with Richard Janssen (Fatal Flowers, Shine, Rex), JB Meijers (Shine, Supersub) and former Urban Dance Squad members Michel Schoots and Silvano Matadin.Ten Damme performs at the Noorderslag festival in January. In the meantime she is continuing recordings for her upcoming album.Ten Damme's second album, I Am Here, is released in April. The first single taken from the album is It Ain't Easy. On Valentine's Day it is announced that Kevin from Dutch band the Apers is the lucky winner. The Atlantic Affairs tour of China that Ellen ten Damme was supposed to do with German Udo Lindenberg is postponed until September because of the SARS virus.
