After dropping out of university where she studied Dutch, Ten Damme goes to Amsterdam to study at the art academy in Amsterdam where she specializes in playing the piano.

1991
Ten Damme's career as an actress is on the up and while still studying at the art academy she gets her first part in a Dutch film called 'Tranen van Maria Machita' ('Tears of Maria Machita').
1992 - 1994
From 1992 to 1994 Ten Damme acts in several Dutch TV-series and films. She also sings on the soundtrack of a number of Dutch films.Ten Damme gets a record deal with Mercury and records her first album Kill Your Darlings. Although the album gets good reviews and is even nominated for an Edison, sales are lacking behind. For a while she concentrates on her acting career.Ten Damme joins recently reformed new wave band Soviet Sex. They release the album Hotel Winston. She also sings with on a track of the band Jeunes Turcs, which becomes a hit in Turkey. Ten Damme records some material for the original soundtrack album of Caspar, The Friendly Ghost.Ten Damme plays the part of Paula in de film No Trains, No Planes from Jos Stelling. She also has a regular column in newspaper
kskrant Magazine. She records a new album with Richard Janssen (Fatal Flowers, Shine, Rex), JB Meijers (Shine, Supersub) and former Urban Dance Squad members Michel Schoots and Silvano Matadin.Ten Damme performs at the Noorderslag festival in January. In the meantime she is continuing recordings for her upcoming album.Ten Damme's second album, I Am Here, is released in April. The first single taken from the album is It Ain't Easy. Ten Damme performs at both the Pinkpop festival and Lowlands.With the Bonobo Band featuring Robin Berlijn and Bart van Poppel she plays at the Parade and Lowlands festival. She plays a role in ARD-televised German detective series Tatort and Dutch film Volle Maan ('Full Moon') for which she records the single Vegas.As a publicity stunt Radio 3 organises a competition in which the person with the most original marriage proposal can marry Ellen ten Damme in Las Vegas. On Valentine's Day it is announced that Kevin from Dutch band the Apers is the lucky winner. The Atlantic Affairs tour of China that Ellen ten Damme was supposed to do with German Udo Lindenberg is postponed until September because of the SARS virus. The tour starts in Germany early June.In February Ellen goes on a German tour with Nina Hagen, Peter Maffay and Eric Burdon as part of 30 Jahre Panik-Power. Following this, Ellen and Lindenberg leave for China where they perform in Peking and Shanghai. Ellen also writes the music for the film Castings. Together with Robin Berlijn (Fatal Flowers, 13) Ten Damme works on a new album. Some tracks are tested at the Black & White Circus shows at the yearly Parade festival tour. Her band consists of Berlijn, Dick Brouwers, Diederick Nomden (Johan) and Jeroen Kleijn (Daryll-Ann). Ellen ten Damme and Meteors singer Hugo Sinzheimer are featured on an international fairytales DVD, cut at Cologne-based Conny Plank Studio. All proceeds go to charity. Other contributors include Annie Lennox, Peter Gabriel, Nina Hagen and Gianna Nannini. Ten Damme is featured as a swimmer in art film FLO by Daniëlle Kwaaitaal. The film, meant to be released as a DVD at a later date, is premiered at the national Museum Night on November 6. The singer also stars in films like Ferienfieber directed by This Lüscher, Mein Bruder ist ein Hund by Peter Timm and Elektra by Rudolf Mestdagh.In January and February she puts on a series of �
