Links
Amber Davis is a practicing artist living in Somerville MA. Since the fall of 2000Amber has been on the faculty at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston where she teaches photography and new media. She will be teaching a Five College Pro Arts new media course in the spring of 2004 at Emerson College in Boston. From 1998 to 2000, Amber was on the faculty at Princeton University, teaching courses in photography and new media.
Amber received her M.F.A. in Computer Arts/Photography/Design from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1998, and her B.F.A, Photography and Minor in Art History, University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1992.
Amber’s photographs, video installations and performance have been exhibited in galleries and colleges throughout the Northeast, including Amherst College, Hampshire College, and Mass College of Art. Her solo exhibitions in Western Massachusetts include Pivot Gallery, APE Gallery and Herter Gallery.
In the past year Amber's photography has been published in Arts & Understanding Magazine, The Advocate, Gay and Lesbian News Magazine and Family Pride Coalition Quarterly.
Since 2001 Amber has been an active member and photographer for several coalitions serving LGBT families nationwide, including Family Pride, COLAGE, the Families Like Mine online community, The Rights To Marry Coalition and The Human Rights Campaign, New England.
For most of the 1990s, Amber served as either the photography editor or art director for several weekly alternative publications in Western Massachusetts.
Amber frequently consults on fine art digital printing and digital photography for colleges and imaging studios including Wellesley University, Emerson College, and the Center for Digital in Waltham, MA.
