Judy Greer
| Biography |
Judy Greer is a character actress. She was born in Detroit and raised in suburban Livonia, the daughter of a mechanical engineer and a hospital administrator. Greer was "sort of a hippie" in high school, and appeared in school plays. She studied theater at DePaul University, and landed her first screen role just days after graduation, a small part in the David Schwimmer comedy Kissing A Fool. She flew to Hollywood for the film's premiere, and decided to stay.
On TV, she played the airhead sister on a short-lived 1999 sitcom, Love & Money, and the nutty secretary on Arrested Development. On the big screen she has played best friend to Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner and to Jennifer Garner in 13 Going On 30. She played a suicidal file clerk in What Women Want, and the gun-toting sidekick to a Jewish action hero in The Hebrew Hammer.
In more dramatic turns, she played a reporter in Three Kings, a waitress who became the object of Nicolas Cage's obsession in Adaptation, and the firstborn child in M. Night Shyamalan's The Village.
Coming soon for Greer, The Great New Wonderful, described as a "post-9/11 ensemble comedy" set in New York, with Maggie Gyllenhaal, Olympia Dukakis, Tony Shalhoub, and Edie Falco.
