Jamia Simone Nash

Jamia Simone Nash was born on August 21, 1996 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. She first started singing when she was 2 years old, 12 months after she started speaking. Ever since then everyone knew it was destined that she would become a star who would charm the hearts of many, young and old. With her parents being gospel singers you would think her talented singing started in the church, but it didn't. When asked if she start singing in church, she replied "No, at my house." Even with that being the case we can not deny that her talent is one of God's given.
She was first discovered when she was just 5 years old, after winning the Apollo Kids Talent Search Competition at Atlanta's Gwinnett Place Mall where she sang the Alicia Keys song, "Fallin". Since then, Jamia has proved to be a wonderful singer, actress, as well as person with her vibrant personality and soulful voice. She has only been singing for a few years but she has already shared the stage with artists such as Monica, Tyrese Alicia Keys and Anthony Hamilton just to name a few.
She has been seen at many appearances. Some of the appearances she has been apart of are the 2003 Essence Awards, The NBA All Star Game where she sang the National Anthem, The Maury Show, and Soul Train Christmas Starfest, and Steve Harvey's Big Time. Many of the shows she does are just for fun and experience but she also does a lot of charity work, like performing at the Dedication Of The Painted Turtle Camp. A family care center for children with life threatening illnesses. She has done charity work so far to benefit cancer, sickle cell anemia, and multiple sclerosis funds to find cures for these diseases.
Jamia is one of 2 children. Her sister Olivia, is four years younger. Olivia also sings and has been featured on a Talib Kweli song called "Black Girl Pain" along with Jamia. On stage Jamia may seem to be all work and no play, but she's still your typical nine-year-older. She likes to play on the swings at her local play ground, ride her scooter with her little sister and go swimming on nice summer days.
Jamia doesn't let fame get to her head. To assure that Jamia has a regular childhood her parents keep her in a public elementary school, 5 days a week. It is said that her school has one of the highest test scores in the district. Jamia loves to talk and is always active in class. She still loves to play with her friends, her little sister and her dog, Charmie and sing at church. |
